Slicing, Dicing, Rolling and Skating @ the Gamescom ’09

I immediatly thought back to last year’s 4-day trip to the Leipzig Games Convention together with Fred Prefuse when i found out last week that i won two tickets for the Gamescom in Cologne. We did think about going again earlier this year, but actually didn’t get to plan something serious. Now NG-gamer provided us with two tickets we just couldn’t resist the call to at least go and have a look. And as part of the price there where two Fairytalefights goodie bags and caricature drawings by an art director of Playlogic waiting for us when we got there. So after discussing our options and getting Fred Prefuse’s girlfriend to come along we decided on going saturday….

Gamescom 2009 // pulls in 245,000 attendees

Organizers of the Gamescom claim the five-day trade fair pulled a total of 245,000 attendees, made up of 17,000 visitors to the trade show portion, and 228,000 coming to the consumer portion. I’m working on a full report about a day at the Gamescom and it will follow later this week.

Gamescom trailers // Tekken 6

Everything is in motion in this trailer for Tekken 6. To be honoust if it wasnt it would just be a bunch of screenshots. In short Jin is wanted by the G-unit, Mishima Zaibatsu has picked up on this and organized a fighting tournament. Tekken 6 is the latest installment of Namco’s Tekken series, which was released in Japanese arcades on November 26, 2007. It will be released on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PlayStation Portable in October 2009.

Gamescom trailers // Pixel Junk Shooter

PixelJunk Shooter is a forthcoming video game currently in development by Q-Games for the PlayStation 3. The game will be the fourth in the PixelJunk series and it is set to be released in the third or fourth quarter of 2009. The object of the game is to control a subterranean vehicle to rescue survivors trapped underground. The player can manipulate magma and water found in the environment in order to reach the survivors. The game will include a variety of enemies, including bosses.

Gamescom trailers // New Super Mario Bros Wii

Nintendo is going back to old school Super Mario in “New Super Mario Bros.Wii”. And to make it even better they added 4 player co-op mayhem. And if that doesn’t make you hapy the music in this trailer definitly will.

Nathan Drake in the snow, Nathan Drake in an ancient ruin, Nathan Drake in the city, Nathan Drake on a rooftop, Nathan Drake jumping, Nathan Drake fighting, Nathan Drake hanging on a train, Nathan Drake in a group session. This game just has it all, if your into Nathan Drake that is. Personally i think he’s a bit of a goofball. The graphics look amazing to bad they focus on Nathan Drake’s face so much.

Gamescom trailers // Mass effect 2

A new trailer for Mass Effect 2 has been unleashed into the crowds at the Gamescom in Cologne. It shows a new character called “Grunt” and as his name suggests he grunts a lot. quote: “I don’t care where i fight, as long as get to hurt someone”. He sounds like a nice guy to have around. Meanwhile the game is really looking to be a great new episode in the Mass Effect universe.

what can i say about Loco Roco: midnight carnival except… “yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeaaahh…”

And of course there is also a new trailer for Brutal Legend revealed at the Gamescom in Cologne. Who could have guessed it after the tons of trailers released for the game already. I couldn’t, i thought(hoped) the track-list revealing rubiks-cube solving trailer was the last we would see before the release but i was wrong. If you havent seen that one you can watch it after the jump. But be warned the game has a very long soundtrack.
